CHIROPRACTIC AND CANCER

I started coming to Dr. Judson in August 2003 after a bit of a rough time health-wise. In October of 2002 my doctor found a large cyst on one of my ovaries and I needed immediate surgery. Things got ugly; I came out one ovary down as the cyst was actually a kind of tumor which had attached itself to the ovary. It was borderlin cancer and they found some cancerous cells in a wash they had done. I was in my sophomore year of college and kept plugging away despite being knocked for a bit of a loop. In March 2003 I had to go back in for exploratory surgery as the lab had messed up some of my test results, so lucky me, I got to be opened up and left to recuperate yet again.

When the school year finally ended I decided to go spend a summer back in Ireland doing a few classes, just for fun and the experience. Trouble was, I became extremely out of shape that year from all of the surgery and basic inability to exercise. In Ireland where I was studying, I was basically walking about 4 miles a day or more, I felt a bit better, but when I would go to bed at night, disaster would strike. My whole left leg ached all summer. Granted, I broke my left knee when I was two, and I had minor scoliosis. I went through more Ben Gay and Advil that summer, let me tell you. It got to the point where I felt like I had a sports injury; I was limping. My back also started to flare up. As I`d try to fall asleep, I would feel my whole back spasm and I hardly slept at all. One of the girls I was in classes with was a trained masseuse and jokingly would asses how "stressed" everyone`s backs were. When she got to me she went pale and told me to seek help when I returned home. And I did!

A few of my mother`s friends were regulars at Dr. Judson`s so that August I tried him out. At first I was going to him 4 times a week, which I assume means I was in bad shape! Well, it is now September 2004. I`ve gone to him religiously (I would have done anything to feel better, mind you!) and I do feel much better. As far as the cancer scare is concerned, my recent tests since going to him are completely clear. I`m back going to the gym now; I`ve regained a sense of energy. I`m also sleeping when I go to bed, not just tossing and turning. I was always in pain, and now I`m not. I was dabbling in music journalism for a while and I used to dread reviewing concerts because it would hurt to stand there for that long; now I can go out and not worry. I feel as though I`ve regained a quality of life I was missing out on for a long time. I don`t need to pop Advil every five minutes to lessen the pain. The renewed energy I have and the ability to sleep well is invaluable. I can go out and live my life again, and the only pain I feel is stress inflicted by my senior year of college!
